It's time to clear out the pond! Reeds are beautifully structured and make a grrat architectural addition to a pond. They're perfect for helping wildlife go between water and land too. However they can become too densely populated and clog up the water so regular removal of over growth is a must. All you need is a good pair of wellies (or waders) and to make sure you've had your weetabix! Exciting day yesterday, taking delivery of our new Avant 760i! Small and light enough to use in most gardens but tough enough for most jobs! We've got various new projects in the pipeline that she'll be invaluable for: unloading and moving large rootball trees and huge terracotta pots, digging holes for deer fencing and tree planting, clearing meadows ready for wild flower planting, mulching borders and even clearing fallen trees and storm damage. Well we knew it was coming! Some very frosty scenes this morning, showing the beautiful seed heads (which we leave for food and protection) with their winter coat! Slightly tricky for planting but the sun still has enough warmth to thaw & a thick layer of compost around bases will give them a good start. It shows how expertise in planning, design, implementation & creation makes a garden beautiful throughout every season.

Mild night temperatures and plenty of rain have meant the garden's continue to bloom. The roses are looking lovely and hedges and grass are still growing! This main formal garden in the grounds of this former Rectory was only prepped and planted this spring but has triumphed in spite of some challenging conditions this summer! The garden design has been created by Taylor Tripp who have chosen a sumptuous collection of perennials including blue perovskia "little spire", the dark and light pinks of rosa "Hyde hall" "belvedere" & "lady of the lake" as well as the delicate gaura "siskiyou".
